Congratulations JDRF Research

JDRF, a past recipient of the Grocers’ annual fundraiser, won a 2024 Charity Award in the Healthcare and Medical Research category. JDRF’s funded research has resulted in a cutting-edge technological breakthrough for treating type 1 diabetes, expected to transform the lives of millions of children and adults across the globe. The artificial pancreas hybrid closed loop system represents the most significant breakthrough in type 1 diabetes treatment since the discovery of insulin a century ago.

Congratulations to this year's Grocers' Annual Fundraiser recipients: Samaritans

A huge thank you to everyone who supported The Grocers’ Charity Fundraiser Event on the 9th of May. We are overjoyed to announce that, through our collective efforts, we have raised over £100,000 to support the Central branch of Samaritans, commemorating its 70th anniversary, and the National Office’s City Hub, which helps those working in the City of London. Special thanks to speakers Julie Bentley, CEO of Samaritans, and Heather Barker, a Trustee of Central Samaritans, for sharing their remarkable journey and insights into the history and current work of Samaritans.

Congratulations to Kingsley Academy for winning the Grocers' Academy Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Kingsley Academy won the 10th Grocer Academy Awards for their idea ‘Foridge’, which aims to reduce food waste. The phone App can record fridge contents and facilitate shopping for missing ingredients online or in person. In January 2024, the team competed against other Livery AA teams at the Livery Academy Awards final held at Mansion House in the City of London. Congratulations goes to the final heat winners: St Saviour’s & St Olave’s School.

To mark the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, The Worshipful Company of Grocers launched a new scholarship programme in partnership with Projects Abroad and Mossbourne Academy, a Grocers’ supported school. The programme is designed to provide two Year 12 students with a life changing experience volunteering abroad.

Congratulations Doctors' in Distress

We are thrilled that Doctors’ In Distress, a charity supporting the mental health of healthcare professionals, announced that the Founder, Amandip Sidhu has won the Caroline Flack Mental Health Hero Award at the Sun Who Cares Wins Awards. Amandip says “I am truly honoured to have been nominated, let alone successful in being voted the Caroline Flack Mental Health Hero. I don't see myself as a hero but I felt I had to stand up for what I believe in and help protect the mental health of those that care for us".
