Congratulations to this year's recipients: Samaritans
A huge thank you to everyone who supported The Grocers’ Charity Fundraiser Event on the 9th of May.
We are overjoyed to announce that, through our collective efforts, we have raised over £100,000 to support the Central branch of Samaritans, commemorating its 70th anniversary, and the National Office’s City Hub, which helps those working in the City of London.
Special thanks to speakers Julie Bentley, CEO of Samaritans, and Heather Barker, a Trustee of Central Samaritans, for sharing their remarkable journey and insights into the history and current work of Samaritans. In fact, Samaritans can trace their roots back to the Grocer Church of St Stephen Walbrook, where Chad Varah, founder of Samaritans, answered the first call to the helpline in 1953, with Grocers’ support.
Our gratitude goes to our guests, sponsors: Sheila Child Recruitment, Pearl Print & Design and 4th Dimension A/V, and those who donated auction prizes, which helped The Grocers’ Charity raise funds for Samaritans.
