The 600th Anniversary of the first purpose-built Livery Hall in the City of London

Commemorating a milestone in the history of the Grocers’ Company a new exhibition, curated by Past Master Sir Rupert Gavin and Company Historian Dr Helen Clifford, provides the narrative surrounding the acquisition of the land in 1425, on which the first Grocers’ Hall was built. Purchased for the princely sum of £213 8s 6d, this four acre site was to become location of the first Grocers’ Hall, the first purpose built Livery Hall in the City of London.

Armed Forces Covenant 30th May 2024

On 30th May 2024 the Company committed to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant is a Government initiative to encourage organisations and businesses of all types to formally and publicly declare their support for the Armed Forces Community.
The Master Grocer, Alderman Sir Charles Bowman, signed the Covenant on behalf of the Company, and the Commanding Officers of each of the Company’s military affiliates signed on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.
