About the Grocers' Company
Home of the Grocers’ Company since 1426, Grocers’ Hall has managed to adapt to the challenges and changes in City life throughout its 600 year history. Over this time, Grocers’ Hall has seen plagues, the Great Fire of London, two World Wars and a fire that destroyed the Hall in 1965.
2020 has been a year that will also go down in history, as the world stood still through a global pandemic. By contrast, Grocers’ Hall has remained fully operational, and continued the good work that is fundamental to the Company’s edict. This has included feeding frontline NHS staff during the spring/summer lockdown, and then again during the autumn/winter lockdown for City Harvest.
On top of our regular grant making, the Grocers' Charity has gifted an additional £150,000 to support charities helping people with long-term illnesses, homelessness, mental health and initiatives helping isolated, vulnerable individuals. We plan to find additional funds to support more pandemic related issues in 2021.
We are committed to continue supporting this and other worthy projects until the Hall can fully reopen to commercial and member events. At which point we look forward to welcome you back to the Hall, to do what we do best, and coming back stronger than ever.
